Highway Work Scheduled for Interstate 30 Near Alcoa Road


LITTLE ROCK (8-17) – A contractor for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will be installing concrete barrier walls near the Alcoa Road Interchange beginning Tuesday, August 21 through Wednesday, August 22, weather permitting, according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers.

This work is part of the Interstate Rehabilitation Program, which will improve 60% of the state’s 655-mile Interstate system.  This particular project is being done in conjunction with the reconstruction of the Alcoa Road Interchange. 

 The work will require temporary lane closures on the following dates and times, weather permitting:

 Tuesday, August 21

  • Beginning at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21 through 6:00 a.m.Wednesday, August 22, it will be necessary to close the east and westbound inside lanes of Interstate 30 for the installation of a concrete barrier wall in conjunction with the construction of the Alcoa Road Interchange.  This will be the initial stage of the bridge construction project.

As always, motorists are urged to “Think Ahead”, “Buckle-up” and exercise caution when approaching and traveling through work zones.
