Labor Day Holiday Interstate Lane Closures

LITTLE ROCK (8-29) – The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will have several Interstate construction zones with lane closures during the Labor Day holiday weekend.

"We want everyone to arrive safely at their holiday destination," said AHTD Director Dan Flowers. "Completion of the current rehabilitation work on the Interstate system is going to really benefit drivers, but added patience will make this holiday travel better for all of us."

The AHTD has an aggressive Interstate Rehabilitation Program underway that will eventually affect 380 miles of Arkansas Interstates. The program is in the second of a five-year plan and includes the Pave The Way educational campaign.

Some of the resources available to help motorist navigate Interstate work zones can be found at ArkansasInterstates.com. The website contains detailed construction, traffic and safety information.

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, headquartered in Little Rock with offices statewide, oversees the 12th largest U.S. state highway program (16,367 miles). For more information about the Interstate Rehabilitation Program or Pave The Way, call the AHTD Public Affairs Office at 501-569-2227 or e-mail at or visit the Pave The Way website at www.ArkansasInterstates.com.
