Notice to MediaBids for Southeast Arkansas Improvements Awarded
LITTLE ROCK (8-31) – The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) has awarded two contracts totaling more than $2 million to improve sections of State Highways in Drew County, according to AHTD Commission Chairman John "M" Lipton of Warren.
R. Thompson, Inc., of Hamburg, was the low bidder at $1,907,030.82 to construct passing lanes on Highway 35 between Highways 63 and 425. Two passing lane locations (one northbound and one southbound) are scheduled. Weather permitting, construction could begin in the next several weeks and be completed next spring. Construction and installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Highway 425 and Highway 35 in Monticello was awarded to L.E.G. Enterprises of Cabot for a low bid of $94,824.14. Completion is estimated by Spring 2002. "Highway 35 is a major route for Drew County drivers traveling to Cleveland and Jefferson County," said Lipton. "These two projects will help with the additional vehicles we have on that roadway."
