Notice to MediaHighway Work Scheduled on Galloway Road Overpass
LITTLE ROCK (12-14) -
A contractor for the
Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will be working on
the Galloway Road (Highway 391) overpass just east of Little Rock this weekend
in conjunction with improvements to Interstate 40. Weather permitting, the work will take place beginning
midnight Saturday, December 15 and continue until midnight Sunday, December 16,
according to AHTD Director Dan Flowers. This
project is part of the Interstate Rehabilitation Program, which will improve 60%
of the state’s 655-mile Interstate system.
This work is part of the overall project to improve nine miles of
Interstate 40 from Highway 67/167 to the Lonoke County line.
The
purpose of the work is to raise the overpass structure to maintain minimum
clearance for traffic traveling on I-40. As
part of the work it will be necessary to temporarily close the Galloway Road
overpass. The overpass is scheduled
to re-open by midnight Sunday, December 16.
Motorists
may want to use an alternate route or allow extra travel time during the
closure. As always, motorists are
urged to “Think Ahead”, “Buckle-up” and exercise caution when
approaching and traveling through work zones.
