LITTLE ROCK (2-5)

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will hold a Public Involvement Meeting in Marianna to discuss plans for improvements to Highway 1, according to AHTD officials.

Plans call for widening approximately two miles of Highway 1 to fives lanes.  The work will begin just south of Marianna and extend southward toward Scott Valley.   AHTD will be proposing a new design due to comments and concerns received from the December 11, 2008, meeting.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, February 19th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lon Mann Cotton Research Station, located at 3121 Highway 1 South, in Marianna.  The meeting will take place in the Station’s Conference Room.

The public is invited to visit anytime during the scheduled hours to view displays, ask questions and offer comments.  For more information, contact the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department’s Environmental Division at 501-569-2281.
