The Property Management Area of the Acquisition Section is responsible for the removal of improvements acquired in the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department’s acquisition of highway right of way. The activities are administered consistent with the public interest to reflect the maximum long-range public benefit.
 
The tasks involved in this include numerous things: the inspection for and removal of asbestos contained in improvements, sale of surplus property, leases and rental of airspace and improvements, inspection for and removal of underground storage tanks (UST's), and various other functions.
